Bad news travels fast. It travels even faster if you’re a celebrity.
Former Grammy nominee, Kehlani Parrish, was confirmed in January to be dating Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, Kyrie Irving.
Two months later, the athlete-singer duo’s relationship concluded on a sour note. In a since-deleted post on PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Instagram, the OVO signee is seen cozied up in bed with Kehlani, identifiable by her “Woke” hand tattoo. The two had dated and split in 2015, prompting PND to release “Kehlani’s Freestyle.”
The alleged infidelity triggered an internet firestorm at the expense of both Kehlani and Kyrie. Memes were readily prepared at Kyrie’s expense. Others shamed the You Should Be Here singer to the point that she deleted her Instagram. Upon her return to Instagram, she revealed that she attempted to take her own life. Despite the internet throwing blame at PARTYNEXTDOOR, the 20-year old credited Mississauga native, who was at her hospital bedside, with saving her life.
Some like fellow musician, Chris Brown, have dismissed the suicide attempt as a sympathy ploy. However, Kyrie Irving himself broke his silence on the matter and posted the following on Twitter:
Now that both Kehlani and Kyrie Irving have debunked rumors of infidelity, it remains to be seen how all three parties will move forward.
PARTYNEXTDOOR, fresh off of a #1 hit for his writing contributions to Rihanna’s “Work,” is currently working on his second studio album, P3.
Kyrie Irving’s playoff bound Cavaliers sit atop the NBA Eastern Conference with a 52-22 record.
Kehlani is at home, thankfully making a full recovery.
